He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Group Strategy and Chief Executive Office has an opportunity for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Operations Manager to join our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Operations Team.

This is a critical role that will focus on supporting directorates to uplift their health, safety and wellbeing capability and culture. You will provide senior-level strategic advice and coaching, lead a team of advisors, and work closely with General Managers and Business Partners to embed learning programmes and improvement initiatives that help everyone go home safe and well.

 

  • This is an on-site position - based at our Albert Street office, with regular travel across Tāmaki Makaurau to connect with teams at various locations.


You could expect to work on:

  • Leading the development and implementation of HSW learning plans across directorates
  • Coaching and supporting people leaders  , Health, and Safety Representatives (HSR’s) and HSW professionals to embed capability uplift
  • Providing expert strategic advice on wellbeing, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Designing and coordinating HSW audits, reporting and assurance design measures that verify learning, development and competency of health and safety skills and training.
  • Building strong relationships and championing inclusive and psychologically safe workplace cultures

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

This role requires experience in the health, safety and wellbeing space at a senior and strategic level. You will have operated in a leadership capacity in large, complex, and potentially political organisations.

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 10 years’ operational experience in HSW and 3+ years as a people leader
  • Proven experience designing and delivering learning and wellbeing programmes
  • Strong knowledge of HSW legislation, audit frameworks and verification and assurance activities
  • Experience in Safety II/Safety Differently models and systems-level change
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
