He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Join us as Head of Finance and play a vital role in shaping the financial direction of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. Leading the Finance & Procurement functions which span operational, commercial and strategic dimensions, this role is central to driving financial performance and supporting the organisation’s strategic ambitions. As a trusted business function, you’ll ensure the team provide insightful commercial advice, ensure strong governance, and champion continuous improvement across financial systems and processes. This is a senior leadership role that requires collaboration, influence, and strategic thinking — building trusted relationships across Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and the wider Auckland Council Group to deliver meaningful outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau.

 

The key responsibilities of this role:

 

  • Support the development and maintenance of a strategic plan that supports Tātaki Auckland Unlimited current and planned business objectives
  • Lead the Finance team to achieve our desired Finance transformation agenda
  • Lead the operational Reporting, Forecasting, Budgeting, and Annual Planning processes across business.
  • Ensures financial management compliance with all relevant internal and external reporting and taxation policies, standards, and regulations, including statutory and legal requirements
  • Provide leadership and direction to direct reports and contribute to leadership within the finance team.

We’re looking for an innovative individual with a drive to improve work processes and suggest alternative ways of working, able to use understanding of customer and stakeholder needs to review systems, processes, and procedures.

 

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant NZICA or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a financial professional with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar sized organisation ideally both public and private
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and develop people and successful track record managing teams
