Our purpose is to help create an Auckland we can all be proud of. This new opportunity sits within the Corporate Strategy & Business Improvement team which is part of the Group Services directorate. Group Services has an exciting mandate to enable our customer and community facing directorates to deliver our commitments for Aucklanders.

Reporting into the GM Corporate Strategy & Business Improvement, as the Head of EPMO, you will support the implementation of council’s strategy Kia Manawaroa Tātou by establishing and maintaining an EPMO which is responsible for the Council's overall portfolio prioritisation, management and benefit realisation. The ePMO will provide enterprise portfolio leadership, integration of strategic priorities and delivery of  PMO methods, frameworks and processes to improve the effectiveness  and efficiency of how we deliver the organisation's strategic priorities.


This is a critical senior role where you will ensure increased ability for Council to realise and sustain benefits delivered through the divisional portfolios and that portfolio plans and priorities are aligned and evident in divisional and departmental business plans as appropriate. You will build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders and advise ELT on portfolio alignment, priorities, and interdependencies.

He kōrero mōu: About you

Tertiary qualified, you will bring a minimum of 12 years’ experience at a senior level in large complex settings with a significant asset base preferably in the Programme, Project or Portfolio management area. With strong financial acumen, you will ideally have proven results in the construction of an enterprise portfolio and implementation of it. Ideally you will have an led an ePMO.

Politically savvy with strong people leadership skills, you will have a strong track record of managing sensitive reputational issues in a demanding environment and have experience in creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, performance and transparency.  Highly analytical, you will bring the ability to think strategically and to link strategy with business outcomes. You will have strong project management and facilitation skills and excellent innovation and problem-solving skills. 

You will have a strong understanding of our Māori Responsiveness framework and Te Tiriti obligations in order to help drive the division’s Māori Responsiveness Plan and continue to build capability and confidence across the division.
