He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We are in the market for a capable and seasoned leader to head and manage our Capital Delivery function at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU). A critical leadership role responsible for planning and delivering TAU’s Capital Programme, including oversight of the organisation’s Capital Budget, portfolio governance, and performance reporting. The position also provides leadership and support to a dedicated team of project delivery professionals as well as acting as a key relationship manager for our internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the General Manager of Property, and working as part of the Property Lead Team, this opportunity blends strategic thinking with hands-on leadership and provides a unique opportunity to be involved with one of the most exciting and varied property portfolio’s in the country.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the team of 14 capital delivery professionals including project and programme managers and continue to foster the existing positive team culture.
- Work closely with the Facilities Management, Asset Management and Contract Management teams who together with the Capital Programme team form the wider Property Function.
- Collaborate and communicate closely with our internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain the strong relationships that enable us to deliver positive outcomes for Auckland.
- Use your experience to help shape and scope our capital projects and contribute to meaningful outcomes that will have a lasting impact, offer best value for Aucklanders and best serve our customers.

You are a great leader with mentoring and coaching skills together with strong portfolio, programme and project management skills. You will have experience working in the public or private construction sector and have excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills. This role will require you to be able to implement best-practice and continuous improvement initiatives and work as part of our exceptional lead team to shape and influence the capability and reputation of the Property Department.
You have demonstrated ability to manage complex cross-organisational projects involving multiple stakeholders and provide programme management services and reporting. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills including being able to clearly articulate project, programme, budget and risk management.
