He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

As a Growth Programme Specialist, you will support the growth of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s tech industry by delivering initiatives that build capability, export readiness, and opportunities for tech start-ups. This role works across four pou: partnering with national agencies and organisations to increase equitable access to capability programmes, driving export-ready product and service development, scaling initiatives that support new start-ups to innovate and access markets, and championing access to digital infrastructure, resources, and advice. Your work will directly contribute to the Economic Development Office’s mission of driving inclusive, innovative, and resilient economic growth for a thriving Auckland.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan, manage, and deliver projects and initiatives that strengthen tech industry capability, support start-ups, and grow export readiness.
  • Partner with national agencies, local stakeholders, and industry groups to expand opportunities for tech businesses.
  • Oversee budgets, reporting, and project delivery in line with council policies and best practice.
  • Support organisational goals, including health and safety, equal employment, and civic defence obligations.
  • Promote collaboration, continuous improvement, and one-organisation initiatives that align with Economic Developments department strategic vision.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

We’re looking for someone who can build trust and strong partnerships, working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver impactful results. A strong understanding of the research, science, and innovation ecosystem, alongside solid knowledge of the tech industry, will be important. 

 

You’ll bring proven business acumen and the ability to deliver measurable outcomes, supported by excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Project management capability, financial acumen, and the confidence to work across multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment will help ensure success in this role.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • A relevant tertiary degree, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the tech, innovation, or related sectors.
