He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
 

Reporting to the Director of Customer & Community Services, this is a unique opportunity to take on a key leadership role. As GM of Community Facilities, this role leads the Community Facilities department, and has accountability for the effective management, maintenance, renewals and lease programmes as well as new capital works for Council’s extensive community assets portfolio. This includes the management and maintenance of around $10 billion of assets across pools & recreation centres, local & sports parks, regional parks, community centres, halls and venues for hire, libraries, cemeteries, animal shelters and local board offices.


You’ll be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the strategy, plans and programmes for Community Facilities, and providing leadership and direction that creates a high-performance culture.


He kōrero mōu: About you

 

As a bold and pioneering senior leader, you’ll be solutions and future-focussed, with a strong track record of delivering results and innovation with a high level of customer focus and customer delivery. This will include successfully delivering transformational change, alongside substantial contract procurement and management experience, and experience in leading complex asset management and capital works programmes. 

 

Extensive experience in leading a department/function with multiple teams and driving results across a multifaceted business, and within a diverse and complex organisation will serve you well, as will being able to talk to delivering meaningful yet commercially astute outcomes.

 

Alongside political acumen, a flexible, adaptable and pragmatic approach, you’ll be a visionary leader who can build trust and strong partnerships, and you’ll be able to make quality decisions in a dynamic and challenging setting. 


You respect and value te ao Māori (the Māori world view), support kaitiakitanga (guardianship and protection) and always remain responsive to the needs of Māori. You also support and promote the development of staff confidence and capability across te reo Māori, tikanga, te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi.
