Severe weather events of early 2023 have significantly impacted communities throughout Tāmaki Makaurau. 

 

In response, Auckland Council has established the Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office to oversee and coordinate the repair. We aim to rebuild efforts across Auckland in collaboration with the New Zealand government, community partners, and stakeholders.

 

Reporting to the Head of Homes & Recovery this role is a fixed-term full-time Financial Analyst joining a deeply committed team until September 2025. 

 

As a Financial Analyst, you will be supporting the important recovery processes and delivering the co-funding agreement with the Crown. You will build, develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, wider recovery team and the financial division. 

 

You could expect to work on:
•    Programmes of work such as Category 3 Buy-Out Scheme, Category 2P Risk Mitigation Grant Scheme and the Deconstruction programme 
•    Preparing and providing accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial information
•    Providing performance insights that support decision-making to improve efficiency
•    Ensuring all financial payments are made promptly and accurately.

To excel in this role, you should have a solid grasp of organizational strategy, business needs, and key drivers. You will likely have experience in large, complex, and potentially political organizations.

Your skill set should include the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively gathering and communicating large amounts of complex information.

 

Strong analytical skills and a methodical, systematic approach will be essential for success in this position.

 

Specific experience we are looking for:
•    Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or business management 
•    3 years’ experience in a financial advisory role or similar practice 
•    Generating, managing and analysing reports large data sets; providing easily understood insights
