He Angitūtanga: The Opportunity

 

Join the Group Strategy & Chief Executive Office Directorate as a key Māori Outcomes Lead and Executive Officer. In this pivotal role, you will partner with senior leadership to drive Māori outcomes through the Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau framework. You'll be responsible for ensuring that key strategic initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively, with a focus on advancing Māori outcomes and delivering tangible, positive value for Aucklanders both now and in the future.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead strategic initiatives by shaping and delivering Māori outcomes aligned with the Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau framework, ensuring Māori aspirations are at the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau development.
  • Provide high-level leadership by facilitating the clarity and coherence of strategic initiatives across the Directorate, ensuring all departments work cohesively toward shared goals.
  • Foster strong relationships with Māori stakeholders, mana whenua, mātāwaka, and other Māori groups to ensure alignment, collaboration, and the successful delivery of key projects.
  • Provide expert advice and strategic insights on Māori outcomes to leadership teams, ensuring that te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations are upheld and Māori priorities are effectively advanced.
  • Cultivate innovation by leading operational change, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability while delivering positive outcomes for Māori communities.

He Kōrero Mōu: About You

 

We’re looking for a proven leader with extensive experience in strategic leadership, who has a thorough knowledge of te ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will bring a strong ability to build robust partnerships and navigate complex environments, influencing senior leadership teams to drive Māori outcomes.

Your expertise in tikanga Māori and experience working with mana whenua and mātāwaka will enable you to effectively advance Māori priorities, fostering collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and ensuring positive, impactful outcomes.

Key Skills and Experience:

 

  • Extensive leadership experience in large, complex organisations, with a focus on driving change and strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing innovative solutions aligned with Māori outcomes.
  • Experience in delivering strategic advice and leadership that supports the advancement of Māori aspirations in local government.
