Are you a positive, flexible, experienced Events Organiser? Nau mai, haere mai ki te Kaunihera ō Tāmaki Makaurau. 

We are on a journey to find our new team member. Our waka has altered its course and has created a space for an experienced Event Organiser or Planner, to join us, bringing our Community Civic Events to life!

Use your innovative thinking and events management experience to strategically plan, develop and execute community based events. These events are meaningful and significant for Aucklanders such as citizenship ceremonies and award nights, facility openings, art unveilings, commemoration parades and memorial services.

Our work is varied, and the rewards are immediate. We are looking for a proactive, people-person who has proven experience to deliver. 

Not only are you passionate about working for Auckland, but you also understand that fostering positive relationships is at the heart of creating thoughtful, thriving events. People are at the centre of what we do, and excellent relationships are crucial to pulling everything together. 

Tikanga Māori is important to us, our stakeholders, and our communities. You’ll put your manaakitanga to use each day confidently integrating tikanga and te ao Māori into our events. 

He kōrero mōu: About you

You have a proactive and consultative communication style, and you’ll pride yourself on your excellent time management skills and your ability to prioritise and deliver in a calm professional manner. 

What you will bring to this role: 


  • At least 3 years proven experience in end-to-end event management
  • Ability to deliver events requirements or projects on time and within budget
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • An understanding of tikanga would be a strong advantage


As you’ll know, this isn’t your normal 9am – 5pm role and we’re looking for flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required. In return you'll enjoy a flexible work week with time back to suit your lifestyle.  

A current full and clean New Zealand Drivers Licence and the ability to travel independently is crucial to this role.
