He angitūtanga: The opportunity


We are looking for an Economic Researcher to join Auckland Council’s Research and Evaluation unit (RIMU).


In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides robust research and evaluation evidence for Auckland Council staff and elected members, as well as thought leadership on emerging issues and opportunities. You will shape up and deliver research projects on a wide range of issues which could include housing, transport, labour force participation, employment and sectoral growth and change, and issues of equity. 


This is a unique opportunity to effectively contribute towards the delivery of important strategic outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau as outlined in the Auckland Plan 2050, Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland's Climate Plan, Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau: Auckland’s Māori Outcomes Framework, and council’s Economic Development Action Plan.


You will develop and maintain relationships across the council family, central government agencies, key stakeholders and the community.

You have experience in a range of research methods and are comfortable working with large data sets. You are a clear communicator and take genuine pleasure in working and interacting with a wide range of people across a range of topics. Ideally, you have a sound understanding of the broad economic, social, cultural and political context in which Auckland Council is working. We will value your innovative and curious nature.
