He angitūtanga: The opportunity
 

Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklander’s love by supporting several related services such as asset maintenance, management and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas and Urban Ngahere (forest). As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and environment while also delivering strategically significant programmes.


As Ecology Team Manager, this is an amazing opportunity to oversee the Ecological Team and manage the execution of ecological restoration and maintenance contracts, enhancing Auckland’s ecological assets. You’ll proactively collaborate at a strategic level to promote sustainability, explore opportunities for greater efficiency, and ensure cost-effective solutions.


He kōrero mōu: About you
 

With extensive experience in natural resource management - particularly in ecology or a closely related field - you bring not only technical expertise but also strong leadership and collaboration skills. You have an in-depth understanding of the Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP) and its application within local government, alongside expert knowledge of herbicide use, including legal regulations and best practices for safe and effective application.


We’re looking for a leader who can inspire and develop a high-performing team. Your ability to listen, mentor, and foster a collaborative environment will be key to achieving shared goals. You'll have a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders, balancing operational needs with long-term ecological outcomes. A relevant tertiary qualification, strong strategic thinking, and the ability to adapt to evolving challenges will set you apart in this role.
