Dinosaur Experience Host and Retail Assistant

 

Auckland Zoo is creating a late-night Dinosaur Experience for visitors this winter, and we're looking for 12 enthusiastic and energetic individuals to help us!

This role is all about bringing dinosaurs to life for our visitors while delivering an exceptional customer experience and selling retail products in our Dino-store. If you have a love for retail, talking about dinosaurs, and creating magical moments, this is the job for you!

 

What You'll Be Doing:

 

  • Engaging with visitors to share fun and interesting facts about dinosaurs, creating a memorable and interactive experience.
  • Providing outstanding customer service in the Dinosaur retail shop, helping visitors find unique dino-themed merchandise.
  • Managing stock levels and ensuring the retail space is clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Using basic Te Reo to welcome and interact with visitors.

 

Shifts:

 

  • 7 people 13.5 hours per week Saturday/Sunday/Monday 4.30pm-9.00pm
  • 5 people 18 hours per week Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 4.30pm-9.00pm

What we're Looking For:

  • Retail or customer service experience - previous work in a store, hospitality, or visitor engagement role is a plus!
  • An engaging, confident and friendly personality - you love interacting with people of all ages.
  • Physical stamina - you'll be on your feet for long periods and occasionally help set up exhibits.  You will also be working nights outside
  • The ability to handle challenges professionally, including customer inquiries or safety concerns.
  • A team player who can adapt and help where needed.
  • Tech-savvy - comfortable using online systems and assisting visitors with tech-based experiences.
