Auckland Council’s Regulatory Engineering department has an exciting permanent full - time opportunity for a Development Engineer to join the team! 

The regulatory engineering department plays a critical role supporting land and housing development across Auckland. This includes ensuring that new infrastructure meets local and national standards and delivers good outcomes for our city and our environment.

 

As a Development Engineer, you will apply your technical skills and experience to engineering aspects of Pre-application, Building Consents, Resource Consents, Engineering approvals, inspection including vesting of public assets and 224c process by Council to see the developments through from design to construction and completion. 

 

You can expect to work on:

  • Provide engineering advice on development, building consents, engineering approvals, and infrastructure works.
  • Ensure the delivery of a customer focussed processing service for engineering assessments and related approvals in a manner that is consistent with Council’s codes of practice, engineering and infrastructure design standards and other relevant frameworks.
  • Be involved in the processing and issuing of engineering plan approvals, inspections, resource, and building consents specialist input and vesting of infrastructure assets and specialist engineering support for regulatory compliance teams.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you
A successful candidate will ideally have experience in:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or environmental engineering
  • Have at least three years of relevant engineering experience.
  • You have an understanding and knowledge of the Resource Management Act, District/Regional Plans, Building Act and Local Government Act
  • You’ll also have experience in project management and/or design of subdivision and land development activities. 
  • Knowledge of the local government environment would also be highly advantageous. 
  • As you’ll be joining a collaborative team environment, you’ll be a strong communicator.
