Deconstruction Liaison

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Recovery office has an opportunity for a fixed-term, full-time Deconstruction Liaison to join the team until November 2025. You will be based in the Auckland city centre with the flexibility to work from home or a Council hub.

As the Deconstruction Liaison, you will serve as the point of contact for the Category 3 deconstruction program, engaging with the community, former property owners, impacted stakeholders, and deconstruction companies.

This role is critical to ensuring safe de-construction and delivery of the programme of work; you will foster relationships and ensure effective communication among all parties while collaborating closely with Eke Panuku, waste advisors, project managers, technical specialists, and deconstruction companies.

You could expect to work on:
•    Working closely with on-ground teams to protect the reputation of Tamaki Makaurau Recovery Office and its partners
•    Liaising with our deconstruction companies to ensure residents are kept informed of activities and timelines 
•    Responding to all community and neighbour enquiries promptly
•    Assisting with any requests from former property owners to retrieve items during deconstruction

To be successful in this role you will have excellent facilitation skills in both meetings and workshops; flexibility to attend community events or meetings outside normal working hours is inherent to the role. 

Given the sensitive nature of work within affected communities, a high degree of empathy, trust, and resilience will be essential to your success in this role. These qualities will form the core of your skill set as you navigate complex and challenging situations.

We are specifically looking for:
•    Experience managing large, complex projects and facilitation across diverse communities 
•    Ability to lead, keep track of developments and changes, adapt and deliver within shifting environments
•    Excellent stakeholder management, fostering strong, trusted and collaborative relationships

Salary Range: $100-115k; subject to skills and experience
