He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Customer Enhancement team within Waste Solutions has an opportunity for a Customer Response Coordinator to join the team within a permanent full-time basis.
This role will focus on providing responsive, end-to-end customer-friendly service, supporting all waste management and minimisation contracts. This includes handling and managing regional waste assets (bins), processing related transactions, overseeing bin asset management, and managing inorganic collection bookings.
You could expect to work on:
- Provide end-to-end management of bin-related service requests, including auditing, data entry, reporting, invoicing, and ongoing analysis.
- Handle a range of customer enquiries and escalations (LGOIMAs, Mayoral complaints, general queries) on behalf of Waste Solutions.
- Manage debt collection lists and resolve financial disputes related to regional waste charges.
- Ensure timely, accurate processing of all bin service tasks and maintain clear communication with customers.
- Deliver specialist case management for escalated Inorganic Collection bookings, including monitoring, property coordination, reporting, and administration.

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires 2 – 3 years’ worth of experience in a customer service–focused position, ideally within private industry or the local government sector. You will have a background in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially politically sensitive organisations.
We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:
- Diploma is preferred in environmental science or business administration, or equivalent gained through operational experience in commercial and/or local government waste management operations
- Valid clean full NZ driver’s licence
- A successful track record of working in a challenging environment with competing priorities.
- Experience of developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders and/or contractors.
- Sound understanding of the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, Solid Waste bylaws and other relevant legislation.
