He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Customer Experience Design Lead to join our Business Improvement & Enterprise Change team within the newly formed Group Shared Services (GSS) directorate providing great opportunity to directly contribute to increased maturity across the business. 

 

The key focus of the role is to lead and facilitate major projects using design thinking methodology. These projects aim to create a sustainable pipeline of innovation, improving the experiences that Auckland Council delivers to Aucklanders. Additionally, the role involves mentoring Council staff in design thinking approaches to build internal expertise and foster a community of practice.
 

Day-to-day you could expect to:
•  Lead and facilitate major projects using design thinking methodology that drive impactful outcomes.
• Collaborate with our Group Shared Services teams to assess and identify new initiatives 
•  Work with senior leaders to enable successful adoption of these business changes
•  Improve Council services to create better experiences for Aucklanders.
•  Create a sustainable pipeline of innovation within the Council. 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires extensive experience in human-centered design (HCD), along with proven expertise in integrating design practices within New Zealand businesses. A relevant business degree or HCD qualification is essential, as well as a demonstrated ability to facilitate design projects with cross-functional teams, even with those unfamiliar with HCD methodologies.

 

Your successful track record in leading and implementing design projects in complex organisations will be crucial, particularly in a senior leadership role within transformation or change functions. Additionally, experience in leveraging design thinking to enhance business performance is key, highlighting your capability in driving impactful change and delivering results.
