We are looking for a Conservation Learning Facilitator - Online Learning to join our Conservation Advocacy and Engagement department.

 

This exciting role combines developing and delivering Auckland Zoo's conservation learning programmes with specialist responsibility for our growing online learning portfolio. We are seeking an experienced educator with demonstrated skills and experience in online learning design, digital content development and Learning Management System (LMS) administration. Working within the Conservation Learning and Community Engagement team, you will coordinate the development and continuous improvement of our Conservation Learning Online programmes while also delivering impactful learning experiences to schools and other audiences both in-person and online

 

The successful candidate will help expand the reach and impact of Auckland Zoo's conservation learning programmes by combining strong educational practice with innovative digital learning approaches.

 

The key deliverables for the successful candidate will be to:

 

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate high-quality conservation learning programmes for schools and other audiences onsite, offsite and online.
  • Create learning experiences that align with the New Zealand Curriculum, Ministry of Education guidance, Auckland Zoo's mission and conservation outcomes.
  • Act as the Conservation Learning and Community Engagement team's specialist for online learning, leading the development, administration and continuous improvement of Auckland Zoo's online learning programmes and Learning Management System.
  • Develop and maintain engaging online courses, learning resources and digital content that support conservation outcomes and learner engagement.
  • Monitor learner participation, platform performance and programme outcomes, using data and feedback to inform improvements and growth.
  • Support colleagues across Auckland Zoo to utilise the Learning Management System for learning, training and development purposes.
  • Contribute to the expansion, reach and impact of Conservation Learning Online and wider conservation learning programmes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Conservation Advocacy and Engagement, the wider Zoo and external education partners to achieve shared conservation and learning goals.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about conservation learning and excited by the opportunities that digital learning can create. You will care deeply about wildlife and the world around you. You will be knowledgeable, empathetic, resilient, positive, and remain solutions focussed.

 

You'll bring:

 

  • Experience developing, delivering and evaluating educational or conservation learning programmes.
  • Teaching, facilitation or environmental education experience working with diverse audiences.
  • Experience creating digital learning content and confidence using a range of online platforms and tools.
  • Experience with Moodle or another Learning Management System, or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and effective learning and engagement practices.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills.
  • A strong commitment to conservation and a desire to inspire action for wildlife and wild places.
  • A commitment to continuing to strengthen your relationship with Te Ao Māori.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in a science, psychological, education, communications or other relevant field, or equivalent relevant experience

 

Please note: The role is 40 hours per week; however, this role requires flexible working, including some evening and weekend work, which may include public holidays as required to manage and deliver the role’s portfolio. The position shall support and work flexibly across all other conservation advocacy and engagement teams as required
