Community Lease Coordinator
Date: 25 Aug 2026
Location: Central Auckland, NZ, 1010
Company: Auckland Council
- Keep Auckland’s community leasing work moving and on track
- Work with customers, stakeholders and leasing specialists across Auckland
- Bring your organisation, problem-solving and property administration skills
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Community organisations play an important role in creating connected, thriving communities across Tāmaki Makaurau. Behind the scenes, great coordination helps make sure Council’s community leases, occupancy agreements and property information are managed accurately and efficiently.
As a Community Lease Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of that work — supporting Community Lease Specialists, responding to customers, coordinating applications and documentation, maintaining accurate property and lease information, and keeping the wider leasing programme moving.
This is a role where organisation, initiative and people skills really matter. You’ll need to enjoy having plenty on the go, know how to prioritise competing demands and be confident picking up a problem, working out what needs to happen and making it happen.
You’ll work with a diverse range of customers, community organisations, Council teams and stakeholders, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge of property, leasing and local government while making a tangible contribution to Auckland’s communities.
Day-to-day you could expect to:
- Coordinate occupancy applications, documentation and lease-related enquiries
- Maintain accurate lease, customer and property data across SAP, GIS and systems
- Coordinate meetings, public notifications, approvals and key leasing activities
- Support the Leasing Work Programme, reporting, records and compliance requirements
- Identify process improvements and help keep the wider leasing team moving
He kōrero mōu: About you
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, customer-focused and naturally proactive. You’ll be comfortable managing detail while keeping sight of the bigger picture, and you’ll enjoy working with different people and priorities.
You might come from a property, business administration, leasing, contract administration or business management background. What matters most is that you can demonstrate strong coordination skills, sound judgement and the ability to keep work moving in a busy environment.
Must haves
- 3+ years’ relevant experience or a relevant property/business qualification
- Strong customer service, communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong data, database, spreadsheet and records-management skills
- Initiative, sound judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Nice to haves
- SAP experience
- Property management or community leasing experience
- Experience working in a local government or similarly complex organisation
- Relevant business administration or property qualification
- A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
What will make you successful?
This role will suit someone who doesn't wait to be told what needs doing. You’ll be the person who notices that something is missing, follows it up, connects the right people and makes sure it gets resolved. You’ll need the judgement to know what requires escalation, the confidence to deal with customers and stakeholders, and the attention to detail to ensure important property and lease information is accurate.
You'll also be comfortable with keeping records tidy, updating systems, tracking applications, preparing documents and making sure deadlines don't slip.
Most importantly, you'll bring a genuine customer focus and collaborative mindset. You'll be working alongside Community Lease Specialists and teams across Council, helping ensure community organisations can access and make the most of Council-owned spaces.
You'll also have the opportunity to continue developing your understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, contributing to Auckland Council's commitment to becoming a Treaty-responsive organisation.
