He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

We’re looking for a friendly and organised Community Coordinator (Front of House) to join GridAKL, Auckland’s Startup Hub in Wynyard Quarter, on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. This part-time role (24 hours per week, Tuesday to Thursday) is the welcoming face and operational heartbeat of the hub, delivering an exceptional experience for founders, startups, partners, and visitors. Working at the intersection of people, place, and programmes, the role combines front-of-house excellence with administration, community support, and event coordination, helping foster a connected, inclusive, and vibrant innovation community aligned with Auckland Council’s strategic goals.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for members and visitors, supporting daily hub operations and delivering a welcoming, high-quality community experience.
  • Supporting community programmes and engagement activities, including onboarding, inductions, networking events, and communications.
  • Assisting with event coordination and venue support, including logistics, set-up, health and safety processes, and promotional activities.
  • Contributing to operational reporting, project support, and administrative tasks, including tracking community metrics, supporting community related onboarding, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will be highly customer service-oriented, personable, and approachable, with a proactive mindset and strong initiative to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Able to uphold high work standards and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

 

Experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government representatives, and a strong awareness of professional etiquette are crucial. Flexibility to work Tuesday through Thursday is required.
