He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We’re searching for a new communications star to join our team and help tell our region’s story to the world. As a Communications Advisor, you’ll work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. It’s an exciting time here at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited as the organisation continues to champion Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland as the best place to live, work, visit, invest in and do business.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver media, communications and public relations plans to promote and champion Tātaki Auckland Unlimited activities and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland
- Create compelling written and digital content
- Work on global events and international productions for Auckland’s most iconic cultural festivals and PR for tourism
- Support your team leader in providing sound communications advice to project leads, particularly in the Destination business unit.

You love Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, you’re a natural storyteller, an excellent writer and content expert. You’re a plain English pro who encourages and champions the use of Te Reo Māori.
Skills and experience that will be highly regarded:
- 4-5 years’ generalist communications experience ideally in tactical communications, public relations, or media liaison roles
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Passionate team player who brings out the best in others
- Naturally inquisitive and comfortable with asking the difficult questions
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across internal and external partners
- Proven ability to deliver quality communications content, including media releases, edms, and speeches and reports
- Proven commitment to customer-first outcomes, with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice
- A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, or business with a communications/media focus is preferred
