He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

The Auckland Council Commercial Advisory team (part of the Financial Advisory department) has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Advisor to join the team! 

The key focus of this role will be to provide accurate and timely commercial expertise and advisory services to stakeholders, and in particular, support the provision of advice that aids decision making for sustainable business growth opportunities and achievement of savings through efficiencies, revenue generation initiatives and business improvements.

Day-to-day you can expect to focus on: 

  • Support development of commercial and business strategies, and operational plans for implementation and monitoring 
  • Ensure information is provided and analysis completed to deliver prioritised plans
  • Identify opportunities for sustainable cost reduction and external revenue streams 
  • Monitor and analyse results to improve key business performance metrics 
  • Engage in procurement services
  • Provide support to commercially focussed projects


He kōrero mōu: About you

 

To be successful in this role you will have 5-6 years’ experience in similar financial, operational or commercial role, ideally from within large and complex organisations. Experience with project management is desirable. 

 

We will also be looking for:

  • A good understanding of contracts and commercial processes and practices 
  • A good understanding of project evaluations tools including better business cases, cost-benefit analysis and NPV analysis
  • Evidence that you’re able to progress workstreams that are complex, ambiguous or involve multiple stakeholders
  • If you have a breadth of commercial and/or financial skills and experience, are inquisitive, innovative, analytical and can collaborate and communicate well, this role might suit you.
