He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As a Climate Change & Sustainability Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the measurement of the organisation’s carbon footprint, analysing data, and contributing to emissions reduction planning in line with Auckland Council and Council Controlled Organisations (CCO)’s targets. You’ll help drive internal and external reporting, coordinate the annual climate and sustainability report, and support climate-related disclosures reporting. A focus of the role will also be supporting waste reduction initiatives, tracking and communicating monthly waste data, and leading engagement activities to build capability across the organisation.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead internal sustainability initiatives such as the Tātaki Green Team, while building strong relationships to influence decision-making and drive climate change and sustainability outcomes. You’ll act as a connector across teams, providing expert advice and effectively communicating a clear and compelling sustainability narrative to both internal and external audiences.

He kōrero mōu: About you
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. You will bring at least 5 years of experience in a relevant industry, with proven expertise in organisational emissions inventories, along with a solid understanding of sustainable business practices. Industry qualifications such as IEMA or CEP are desirable but not essential.
You’ll be confident engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, and be passionate about driving action. Strong reporting and documentation skills are essential to effectively capture insights and support sustainability outcomes.
