We are looking for energetic and friendly individuals to join our team as Casual Gallery Assistants over varied shifts, from August 2025. 

 

This is a great opportunity for those who are keen to grow their art knowledge and have the flexibility of varied shifts, whilst show casing your previous customer service prowess. 

 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Greet and help visitors explore the gallery 
  • Share info about exhibitions and artworks (don’t worry, we’ll train you!) 
  • Make sure artworks and gallery spaces are looked after 
  • Pitch in with special events and activities

You must have proven experience in delivering excellent customer service and manaakitanga, will love sharing your enthusiasm for art with others, and enjoy the environment at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. 

 

In addition, we are looking for: 

 

  • Great communication skills and a friendly attitude 
  • A genuine interest in art and culture 
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team 
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays 

 

The ideal candidate will have high availability, including during the summer, as Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is open every day except for Christmas day, December 25th. 

 

Casual hours will vary based on your availability week to week and we require a minimum of two days of availability per month.

We pay the living wage that is currently $27.80 per hour, plus holiday pay for this role. The living wage will increase to $28.95 per hour in September 2025.
