Join the Capability & Strategy team in Auckland Emergency Management to create training, tools and resources that strengthen the Auckland CDEM Group’s recovery capability. 

 

This 12month fixed term role will ensure our people, partners and volunteers have the skills to transition smoothly from response into effective, community centred recovery. 

 

You will: 

  • Work with the new Recovery Team to design and deliver recovery focused programmes, courses, tools and resources for AEM staff, ACES support staff and partner agencies 
  • Embed recovery into exercises and learning pathways so teams can confidently perform recovery roles in real events 
  • Support the development and delivery of AEM’s capability framework and strategy, with a strong focus on recovery skills 
  • Partner with agencies and communities to codesign training and share best practice 
  • Participate in the AEM on call/standby system and perform recovery functions during emergencies when required

He kōrero mōu: About you 

 

You bring strong experience in emergency management capability development, with a particular interest in strengthening recovery capability across organisations and partner agencies. 

 

You’re able to translate recovery principles, frameworks and lessons learned into practical, accessible learning programmes that build readiness across staff, volunteers, ACES personnel, partners and community groups.  

 

You’re comfortable working in complex, multiagency environments where effective recovery relies on collaboration, consistent training standards and strong support for others during high pressure events. 

 

Your background includes: 

  • Designing and facilitating training, workshops or exercises that build recovery competencies 
  • Experience in emergency management and recovery, including CIMS 
  • Applying CDEM Act (2002) context and CIMS principles to capability development 
  • Building partnerships across multiple agencies and organisations 
  • Using LMS platforms and MS Office to develop and evaluate capability products 
  • Working effectively in high pressure, virtual and cross functional environments
