Auckland Council is on a continued and significant transformation journey and as a result has grown to become one of the largest Information Communications and Technology Services (ICT) capabilities in New Zealand. This presents a unique opportunity for an experienced ICT professional to come and join us in this exciting complex and energized environment in a permanent role.

The Auckland Council ICT Business Systems & Development team is a growing and progressive business unit that wants to improve its application and product knowledge to help Auckland Council deliver a high valued service to its customers. As the ICT market and environment develops continually so will the Business Systems team and structure to ensure we are up to speed with all technology trends.

Being part of the Business Systems team means you are an application development expert and have worked with different types of applications using varying development languages and deployment models throughout your career. You will be part of the team that manages and delivers applications to our business units. You will continually provide technical expertise and consultancy support services to the business while ensuring ICT services and applications are kept at optimal operational levels. Working with partners, suppliers and ICT stakeholders you will enjoy contribution to the delivery of projects. You will also participate in  ensuring high level service agreements are articulated and solidified upfront and then maintained throughout the support phase. 


He kōrero mōu: About you

It is essential that you have 5+ years’ equivalent experience in a development role, particularly in application development. You enjoy collaboration and working at pace, problem solving and working alongside your customer.  Having solid skills in software engineering & delivery using Agile methodologies and frameworks are essential component of your role, combined with your experience in at least one or more of the following software development languages:  .NET, Java, Java Script, Node-JS, C#, Python.

Your high-level knowledge in the end-to-end implementation of diverse applications in business environments, plus exposure in modern technologies such as integration and middleware technologies, digital and web service solutions as well as modern API management will contribute to the success in this role.

Since you will be liaising and facilitating activities between our business stakeholders, vendors/partners and other ICT teams to ensure that we deliver a comprehensive and superior DevOps support service to all of council, your excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management will be heavily put into practice.
