He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our Analytics and Reporting team in the Data Services rōpū is recruiting for a talented Business Improvement Data Analyst for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is all about collaboration and project delivery—transforming data into insights that shape smarter decisions, guide change, and embed better ways of working. A key focus will be supporting the Customer Experience and Digital Services department with CX improvement initiatives such as e-rates instalments, waste processes, and dog nuisance management. You’ll also oversee CX CSAT surveys, using Qualtrics and related tools to capture the right data and build meaningful dashboards. From establishing current baselines to defining proposed changes and tracking future outcomes, this role makes a direct impact on how services are delivered across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake research and lead analysis to support business improvement and change initiatives.
- Create innovative reports that track and communicate key strategic outcomes.
- Translate data into actionable insights, clearly explaining implications and recommendations.
- Design dashboards and contribute to special analytics projects that strengthen business performance.

He kōrero mōu: About you
Success in this position calls for mid-level expertise in analytics and reporting, with critical use of Power BI, SAP, Qualtrics, and other data tools to deliver actionable insights. The role requires someone savvy consulting and communication skills—working alongside stakeholders across all levels of the organisation to explain findings, influence direction, and ensure improvement initiatives are effectively implemented and sustained. Curiosity, innovation, and the ability to translate complexity into clear stories are key, along with strong relationship-building skills to support collaboration and delivery.
To be considered, candidates will bring:
- 3–5 years’ experience in business analysis.
- A tertiary qualification in business or computer science.
- Expertise in using technology and data tools, including Power BI, for insights.
- Solid experience in business planning, target setting, and measurement.
- Proven knowledge of Agile methodologies and change management frameworks.
