Building Claims Advisor

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Recovery Office at Council has an opportunity for a fixed-term full-time Building Claims Advisor to join the team until August 2025. This role is based in the Auckland City Centre, and it offers the flexibility to work from home or at a Council hub.

As a Building Claims Advisor, your work will directly correlate with the grants offered to our weather-affected homes; you will scope the programme of work and support the Senior Grants Lead for all category 2P grants. 

You could expect to work on:
•    Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders, homeowners and suppliers
•    Review grant submission applications: manage any disputes that arise
•    Monitor and report progress & financial status of the scheme
•    Reconcile photographs of damages with invoices to ensure accurate owner reimbursements.
•    Oversee the accurate assessment and management of storm-affected properties undergoing categorisation.

He kōrero mōu: About you

This role requires experience in the design and construction space. You will likely have experience within large, complex and potentially political organisations.

This is a busy role requiring self- motivation and the ability to work in a high trust environment. You will have strong organisation and the confidence to make well-educated decisions.

We are specifically looking for:
•    Expert knowledge and understanding of land development, regulatory infrastructure, social and natural environment issues and challenges relating to Recovery
•    Knowledge of key legislation, policy and process relevant to application review and approvals of grant schemes. 
•    Well-versed in writing and reviewing technical or political reports that can be understood by a range of audiences 
•    Background in flooding & Geotech projects would be an advantage
