The New Zealand Maritime Museum Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa preserves and explores Aotearoa New Zealand’s maritime stories and heritage, inspiring connections with the sea for current and future generations. He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our Bookings Coordinator is a vital first point of contact for a range of our visitors, including educators, community groups and Auckland organisations to ensure the Maritime Museum can provide suitable experiences, activities and events.


In this role, you will respond to queries via telephone, email and messages via our website, provide information on the range of experiences and services we offer, and move through to booking and coordination of internal staff members to ensure successful outcomes for our visitors.

Leveraging your confident communication style and personality, you will connect with our visitors quickly and ensure you can fully grasp the needs of a particular group as well as giving you the ability to interact with and coordinate multiple internal teams and colleagues. Your ability to negotiate and implement the varied requirements of visitors with polite and professional consistency, while adhering to policies and procedures will put you in an excellent position to succeed in this role.


Your high energy, natural organisational skills and ability to think on your feet will steer you well, as will your ability to convert enquiries to bookings and sales. 


Requirements and desirables:

•    Proven sales/bookings experience in the customer service, hospitality and/or the tourism/travel industry
•    Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and public holidays
•    A high level of interpersonal and communication skills
•    Experience in the use of MS office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook) is essential
•    Experience with a booking system is preferable
