He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Environmental Services Department has an opportunity for a Bio Information Analyst within the Bio Information team, part of the Natural Environment Specialist Services Group.
In this role, you’ll manage and support regional biodiversity, biosecurity, and geological data and geospatial information services. A focus of the role will be data management relating to pest plants, alongside supporting Natural Environment Targeted Rate (NETR) projects and wider biodiversity programmes. Your work will directly inform planning, operational delivery, and reporting across the Auckland region.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Managing and analysing biodiversity and biosecurity datasets
- Developing and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise portal items.
- Monitoring and reporting against operational KPIs, including LTP measures
- Supporting NETR projects with spatial analysis and reporting
- Working with internal and external partners to communicate high-quality conservation data
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in biodiversity, biosecurity, data, or environmental science roles, ideally within a large, complex, or public-sector environment.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
- A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural sciences, or computer science
- Strong experience using ESRI ArcGIS (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online and/or Enterprise)
- Experience managing environmental or ecological datasets (pest plant data preferred)
- A solid understanding of NZ ecology and natural sciences
- You must hold a full and clean NZ Driver’s Licence
