Auckland is a city with one of the most progressive zoos in the world.  We have recently embarked on an ambitious 10-year, $150 million capital expenditure upgrade programme, which will see the transformation of much of the site and the development of new infrastructure across the zoo.

Right now, we are looking for someone to join Auckland Zoo’s Facility Services Department to promote, manage, measure and lead the myriad of staff and resources required to maintain and improve the Zoo’s assets and facilities to enable Auckland Zoo to meet its mission to “Bring people together to build a future for wildlife”.

This management role oversees the internal teams of environmental sustainability, utilities, maintenance and grounds staff as well as external contractors, consultants and peers and colleagues in Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA).

You will be part of the Facility Services Department’s leadership team as well as the wider zoo extended leadership team.

 He kōrero mōu: About you


The Assets and Facilities Manager leads this team to enable them to function as a high performing unit that recognizes and embraces their essential role in delivering assets and facilities.

You will lead and guide the maintenance team, produce and implement planned asset and maintenance strategies and participate in infrastructure master planning and implementation projects.  

In collaboration with other stakeholders you will take a leadership position in informing the facility requirements and appropriateness of materials and equipment specified for capital renewals

A core aspect of this role is to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships across internal and external stakeholders. You will implement systems and procedures to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements specific to the zoo operations and infrastructure including working closely with Health and Safety.

You will need a minimum of 10 years within Assets & Facilities maintenance and have people management experience
