He angitūtanga: The opportunity
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing and enhancing architecture governance processes, conducting regular health checks, and ensuring thorough documentation of architectural decisions. You'll also take the lead in mentoring a dynamic team of System Architects, collaborating closely with key stakeholders such as the Head of Development, Head of Delivery, and Head of Platforms.

 

It is a critical decision-making position managing risks, ensuring compliance with Auckland Council standards, supporting strategic planning initiatives, and championing best practices and innovation within the architecture domain. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in facilitating knowledge sharing within the team and overseeing effective vendor and third-party management for seamless collaboration and delivery.

Our ideal candidate for this role should possess strong and positive leadership qualities, showcasing the ability to make informed and timely decisions to guide the team. Excellent stakeholder and communication skills are essential, along with a performance-oriented mindset driven by challenges.

 

Key highlights of what we are looking for in a candidate include but not limited to:

  • Proficiency in improving operational efficiency and service delivery within the Architecture Practice, utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to changes in technology, business priorities, and organizational structure is crucial, as is knowledge in vendor management, procurement, and financial acumen.
  • Technical competence, including a deep understanding of various IT architectures (enterprise, solution, and data), and staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends are vital.
  • Currently holds a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field coupled with over 10 years of IT experience in architecture technology roles within large, complex organizations.

Additionally,  over 5 years of experience in architectural governance, risk management, and team leadership, showcasing a proven track record of establishing and leading high-performing technical teams.
