He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As part of the Parks & Community Facilities Department, you’ll be working with a diverse team of subject matter experts who are passionate about delivering tangible results for the local community and future generations. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes.
You’ll be joining the Arboriculture Operations team, as part of the wider Urban Forest, Arboriculture and Ecology unit, and be responsible for managing a portfolio of maintenance contracts in relation to arboriculture assets. This will also include:
- Oversight of Tree Maintenance Contract delivery in approximately three local boards
- Responding to inquiries from members of public and stakeholders relating to tree maintenance
- Oversight of budget including forecasting
- Auditing of quality and health and safety
- Management of requests made by members of public
- Site visits including assessment of trees
He kōrero mōu: About you
Alongside being passionate about trees, arboriculture and green infrastructure, you’ll be well versed in tree biology and physiology, and we’d like to see at least a Level 4 advanced certificate in arboriculture, or similar. You’ll be a natural at managing stakeholder relationships, with great interpersonal skills.
Contract management will be part of your background, and you’ll be confident in your communication skills – including report writing. A basic understanding of te reo Māori would also be advantageous.
