The Community Directorate in Auckland Council is responsible for supporting elected members to make investment decisions on Tāmaki Makaurau’s parks and open spaces, community services and community facilities. The way our kaimahi (staff) support elected members to make these decisions is through providing robust, well-constructed, timely advice.

As part of the Advisory Unit Lead Team, the Advisory Lead role supports the directorate to develop and deliver this advice in a range of ways. This could include advice construction or review of advice (reports, memos and presentations), communication of performance insights to inform quality improvements, and strategic relationship management to support quality advice capability uplift.

A day in the life of an Advisory Lead is varied and dynamic. You will be involved in many different topics and subjects. This could be through the commissioning and review of several pieces of advice at all stages of development and delivery, supporting kaimahi to learn how use our advice review system, identifying insights about how the advice operating model (directorate-wide) is working, providing those insights to the Advisory Lead Team or department lead teams, and working one on one with authors and reviewers across the directorate to lift the quality and timeliness of an author’s advice.
