He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

Ngā Mātārae is the Māori Outcomes department that helps us deliver on Māori Outcomes across the Council group. Our mahi is guided by our Māori Outcomes Performance Measurement Framework, Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau. 

 

We provide support for Māori to thrive in a Tāmaki Makaurau that reflects them and their aspirations. We set the path for Council, enhance our organisations capability, and facilitate strategic relationships and Māori participation in decision-making. Together we need to ensure that the Council and Māori are set up for the future

 

The role of the Advisor Māori Outcomes will be to provide high quality advice that will support strategic change. You will support the Principal Advisor and Senior Advisor, Māori Outcomes in the development of high-quality policy advice, and project and relationship management. 

 

You will develop strategy, policies and programmes that will support the Māori outcomes kaupapa as well as working with decision-makers to ensure that high-quality advice is provided on Māori strategic outcomes.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You will have a tertiary qualification in policy, law or a relevant field and experience in a similar role in a large organisation providing high-quality policy advice. An understanding of policy and decision-making processes in government context and the ability to influence and engage with a range of stakeholders is key. You’ll have good policy development skills and good relationship and networking skills. 
 
You will understand Māori and their interests within Tamaki Mākaurau. You’ll bring understanding of te ao Māori including mana whenua and mataawaka in Tāmaki Makaurau and proficiency in written and spoken Te Reo Māori or a willingness to learn and upskill.
