Auckland Council’s Councillor Support Team has an opportunity for a fixed-term full-time Advisor to join the team until November 2025. This role will report directly to the Team Leader and be based in the Auckland City Centre, with the opportunity to work flexibly.
You will be at the heart of Auckland Council's political and decision-making processes.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide necessary support, advice, and connections to Councillors, enabling them to operate efficiently, provide leadership, and engage with the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining impartiality while possessing a sharp understanding of working within a political environment.
You can be expected to work directly with councillors and senior staff on:
• Timely governance process and administrative support
• Issues and correspondence management
• Provision of robust advice, supporting policy matters for the Auckland region
• Communications and media support

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Auckland. You will be a self-motivator with high-level organisation skills.
You will likely have experience in large and complex and potentially political organisations. To be successful in this role you will have a good attitude, resilience and the ability to manage high-pressure situations.
