We are seeking a café chef to join our cafes and events business.

As custodian to some of the most iconic venues in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, we are New Zealand’s only major integrated performing arts centre, underpinned by a commercial conventions business, with a focus on presenting the best of national and international performing arts, conventions, meetings, and entertainment, as well as a range of community-focused programmes that all contribute towards a culturally rich Auckland.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
As part of the wider kitchen team, you will be responsible to produce food for the café cabinet, à la carte and catering orders, and ordering stock as required. We are looking for a passionate, self-motivator to undertake the food preparation and cooking daily at our café and ensure all facets of the Food Safety plan are adhered to at all times, while providing a professional, high standard of service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Actively engage with kitchen management team to ensure full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, method of production, preparation levels, storage, and presentation standards.
- Able to estimate the daily production needs and checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Ensuring all aspects of food production and kitchen management meet the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Assist to improve processes, tools and systems to support a high performing café/catering service.
He kōrero mōu: About you
- Naturally, you will be very customer focused with a passion for the food you create, and you will have a minimum two years’ experience as a chef.
- Good communication skills are essential and the ability to build a rapport with staff and patrons from a wide variety of backgrounds.
