He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join the Premium Services team, within Building Consents and specialising in Reclad Inspections. Reporting to the Team Leader Specialist Reclads, you will provide technical advice and contribute to the re-clad process for all consents, applying key principles and deliverables for the Building Control team and legislative requirements. This is a Specialist role, where you will provide escalated advice and help to make decisions on relevant Building Act 2004, NZ Standards, NZS3604 and the Fencing & Pools Act 1987 and Building code aspects and technical issues raised by other business units.

As the go-to person on everything technical, you will be key in determining when Consents have demonstrated compliance with the Building Code and subsequently approving the issue of the consent. A large scope of your role involves cladding, external envelope, and weather tightness to not only ensure the integrity of the building but its ability to keep exterior elements out and interior elements inside.

He kōrero mōu: About you

Your background will demonstrate considerable experience in Building and Construction, ideally in a regulatory environment where you have gained excellent knowledge of weather tightness principles and remediation design. Understanding of the Local Government Act 2002, Building Act 2004, and/or the Resource Management Act 1991 would also be ideal.

Familiarity with effective monitoring disciplines and a good understanding of local authority building processes will ensure you are providing valuable advice on complex technical and procedural requirements to customers, builders, and developers.

With a solid eye for detail, you are competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and can easily adapt to new systems. You will have worked within a busy professional environment and have the ability to build strong working relationships. A current New Zealand driver’s license is also required for the role.

This position is deemed a safety-sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
