He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, collaborative, and skilled geospatial analyst to join our team. In this role, you will support regional biodiversity, biosecurity, and geological information management through geospatial information services. Your work will play a crucial role in supporting planning, operational delivery, and reporting on biodiversity protection and restoration across the Auckland region. Be part of a programme working to protect Auckland’s precious natural environment for current and future generations to come.

 

Day-to-day you could expect to work on the creation and maintenance of field data capture tools and reporting on outcomes against relevant operational KPIs for biodiversity outcomes.  You'll work collaboratively with internal and external partners to analyse, manage, and communicate biodiversity and biosecurity data across all domains. This will guide biodiversity protection and restoration efforts for priority ecosystems.

Ensuring that operational and strategic information needs are met to support planning and delivery of biodiversity outcomes, you'll stay abreast of new IT and GIS technologies for data capture management and spatial mapping.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Bachelors degree in an environmental discipline or computer science
  • Proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS spatial mapping packages including ArcPro, ArcGIS Online and/or Enterprise
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • 5 years’ work experience in biodiversity/biosecurity/conservation, database / information management, statistics and geospatial systems, preferably in natural sciences
  • A good understanding of natural sciences preferably NZ ecology
  • Dealing with various stakeholders in a customer service capacity
  • Practical experience collecting data in the field would be an advantage
  • Experience using FME would be an advantage

  • This role is deemed safety sensitive and, in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
  • A Full NZ drivers’ licence is required for this role
