Team Member, Recreation Assistant


We have 2 locations available, Otara Pool & Leisure Centre & Allan Brewster Leisure Centre


These are part time positions of 20 hours per week, rosters that will include early mornings, late evening, public holidays and weekends.

Shifts Allan Brewster: Mon - 1130 - 1800 / Tue - Fri 1430 - 1800

Shifts Otara: Mon - Frid 2pm - 6pm


No two days will be the same! You will help us deliver an exciting range of community fitness and school holiday programmes.


This role will see you working with school students and community groups across the Auckland region.
In this frontline role, your responsibilities will include:


  • delivering exceptional customer service to our customers and visitors
  • supporting with the delivery of a variety of exciting programmes for children aged 5-12,
  • helping the centre maintain a caring, fun, and safe fitness and leisure environment,
  • helping centre management with administration and operational duties.
  • supporting with centre activities including sporting leagues and daily timetabled programmes.

Please note:

Otara is open from 5:30 am to 7pm (Centre Times) and Recreation Assistants roster cover 7am - 6pm


Allan Brewster - Centre Hours are Mon - Fri 0530- 2100 Recreation Hours Mon, Wed & Thurs 0700-1800 Tue & Fri 0700-2100

You will already be passionate about sports and recreation and be ready to step into a frontline customer service role.


You will also be:


  • responsible when it comes to working with children. (While previous experience working with children is beneficial, it is not essential)
  • have a flexible approach and be able to use your initiative to facilitate suitable programmes for kids.
  • be an enthusiastic team player
  • have a positive attitude and infectious energy
  • be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience. 
  • understand health and safety
  • you will be committed to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in your work



In addition:

A full New Zealand driver's licence is mandatory to be successful as it may be needed within your day-to-day duties 

You will need a First Aid Certificate so we will help you attain this if you do not have one already.
