He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Parks & Community Facilities is a department within the Community Directorate, and has the privilege and commitment to ensure community assets are fit for purpose, delivering outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes.

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Systems Specialist to join our Business Systems and Processes team, part of the wider Business Performance Unit in Parks and Community Facilities. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our Operational teams by making sure the systems behind our services — especially SAP — run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently.

Your day-to-day will involve investigating and resolving errors with SAP’s maintenance work orders, and leading regular maintenance supplier meetings to ensure compliance with technical standards and business requirements. You’ll facilitate the delivery of on-boarding training for new operational staff and the development of relevant training material to support user adoption and system understanding. You’ll resolve technical issues as they arise and undertake discovery work to scope and size problems for the delivery of improvements that are both system and process based.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with systems, likes being the go-to person for problem-solving, and thrives in a role where accuracy and collaboration make a real difference to frontline service delivery. If you’re organised, responsive, and ready to contribute to a high-performing team that supports the heart of our local parks and community services — this could be the role for you.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for someone who’s confident, organised, and brings a calm, solutions-focused approach to a busy environment. You’ll be someone who knows how to manage competing priorities, stay on top of deadlines, and work under pressure without losing sight of the details. You’ll have the confidence to engage with, and present to, maintenance suppliers, internal teams, and Technology Services to ensure processes run smoothly and efficiently across the board.

Ideally, you’ll be tertiary qualified in information systems or computer technology, or equivalent experience and bring at least a 3 years’ experience working with SAP or a similar ERP system.  Familiarity with system testing, upgrades, and troubleshooting in ERP systems and being comfortable navigating Microsoft tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is expected. But just as important, you’ll be an excellent communicator, proactive, self-motivated, and take real ownership of your work.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

You’ll be joining a team of diverse dedicated and respected experts working collaboratively across the region, who are passionate about delivering tangible results for the community and future generations.

We have a culture built on trust and valuing individual as well as collective contributions. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will have some flexibility with how those hours are set.

In return for your hard work, you can expect a flexible and supportive work environment. Ehara taku toa, he takitahi, he toa takitini My success is not mine alone, but the success of many.
