He angitūtanga: The Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating vibrant, safe, and well-regulated public spaces across Tāmaki Makaurau? We’re on the lookout for a proactive and community-minded Street Trading Inspector to join our Licensing and Compliance team at Auckland Council.

You’ll be responsible for administering street trading licences issued under Auckland Council bylaws, with a particular focus on micromobility licences covering rental e-scooters. Your work will support innovative mobility solutions while ensuring fair, consistent monitoring and compliance.

In this role, you’ll be a public face of Council’s licensing operations. You will spend the majority of your time out in the field, travelling across Tāmaki Makaurau to monitor and assess micromobility parking compliance in public spaces.

You’ll also be involved across the wider licensing process, from processing applications and undertaking site visits, to responding to enquiries and complaints, and completing reporting and administrative tasks. This role offers a mix of hands-on fieldwork and office-based responsibilities.

This is a region‑wide role with real variety. You’ll complete your initial onboarding and training in the Auckland CBD before joining our street trading team based in Manukau. Depending on operational needs, you’ll have the flexibility to work from either the CBD or Manukau as you support activity across the wider Auckland area. This is a permanent, full‑time position worked primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend coverage when needed to support service demands.
