He angitūtanga: The opportunity
The Infrastructure Funding & Development Strategy team within our Planning and Resource Consents unit has an opportunity for a Stakeholder & Planning Advisor to join the team on a fixed term full-time basis.
The Infrastructure Funding & Development Strategy team is at the forefront of linking together planning, land use and funding in order to deliver the infrastructure required to support the unprecedented growth underway in Auckland. Your advice will contribute to the timely and cost-effective planning integration and issue resolution of major infrastructure development programmes and capital projects supporting major land development in growth areas across the Council Group.
You could expect to work on:
- Translate policies and strategies into infrastructure investment requirements.
- Provide input into other council strategy and policy, including the Auckland Plan, Infrastructure Plan, Unitary Plan and LTP as required.
- “Ground truth” how affordable policies and strategies are to implement.
- Assess the relevance and achievability of land use phasing and infrastructure triggers.
- Translate the funding and financing issues into the planning context.
- Collaborate a collective council process with the developers on the provision and delivery of infrastructure and negotiation of financing and funding.
- Identify unfunded infrastructure and develop potential responses to demands.
- Manage, participate, and lead where appropriate, cross-Council project teams.
- Build key relationships with external stakeholders and ongoing engagement with internal stakeholders.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process and systems improvement, and review, develop and report on improvement initiatives.
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in similar positions, in one or more of RMA planning, property, landscape architecture or urban design. An understanding of infrastructure delivery is desired.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
- RMA Planning and development processes, including strategic planning, resource consents and a knowledge and understanding of the economics of development, urban design and planning context within which property development takes place
- Influencing timing and strategy to meet agreed milestones
- Driving outcomes, delegating effectively and empowering others to use all resources to achieve the best outcomes
- A political or highly complex organisation, ideally.
You will have:
- Ability to understand complex situations and manage ambiguity, complexity, and uncertainty
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills and sound professional judgement.
- Personal resilience, with the ability to sustain a high level of energy and positivity during times when under pressure.
