Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is progressing a significant strategic initiative which involves transformational change. This complex programme will require strong project leadership, careful coordination across both organisations, and effective engagement with senior leaders and stakeholders.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager (SPM) to lead the planning and delivery of a strategic initiative for TAU. Reporting to the TAU Executive Officer, the SPM will provide senior project leadership across the integration programme, coordinating multiple workstreams, stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure the programme is well planned, aligned and delivered.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working closely with staff both internal and external to TAU, take overall responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering the programme and its key workstreams.
• Develop and manage a clear programme plan, including milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions and accountabilities.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
• Identify and manage dependencies and interdependencies across areas including people, finance, technology, operations, Māori outcomes, governance, legal and communications.
• Establish effective programme governance, reporting and decision-making processes.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Navigate competing priorities and perspectives, supporting alignment and resolution where required.

He kōrero mōu: About you

To be successful in this role, you will be an accomplished Senior Project Manager with significant experience leading complex organisational transformation, integration or change programmes, ideally with around 10 years’ relevant experience.

We will be looking for specific competencies and experience, including:

• Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional programmes involving internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Strong programme and project management disciplines, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to complex environments.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills, with credibility at senior management and governance levels.
• Strong organisational and political awareness, with the judgement to anticipate risks, sensitivities and stakeholder impacts.
• Experience managing multiple interconnected workstreams, dependencies and competing priorities.
• An ability to think strategically and analytically, translating complex issues into clear actions and recommendations.
• A high degree of judgement, resilience and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively through change and ambiguity.
• Experience within local government, the public sector, cultural institutions or similarly complex stakeholder environments would be advantageous.
