Help shape how Tāmaki Makaurau prepares for, responds to and recovers from emergencies.
Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) is looking for a strategic thinker and skilled planner to lead reporting, risk oversight and continuous improvement across our regional work programme.
If you’re passionate about building resilience and influencing system‑level outcomes, this role of Senior Operational Performance Specialist within AEM’s Strategy and Capability team puts you at the heart of it.
You could expect to work on:
- Leading programme management and delivery of the Auckland Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group Plan
- Providing clear, meaningful reporting to senior leaders and governance groups
- Managing and championing AEM’s Risk Management Register
- Embedding lessons learned from reviews, audits and emergency events
- Supporting capability uplift across teams in project and programme management
- Contributing to emergency responses as part of our duty and on‑call roster

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires depth of experience in emergency management, project/programme management, and working within large and complex organisations.
We will be looking for experience with:
- Managing complex programmes of work in government or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of emergency management principles and risk management practices.
- Confident analytical skills across risk, reporting and performance.
- Collaborating and communicating effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Applying legislation, including the CDEM Act (2002), in operational and strategic contexts.

Salary range: $100k - $120k depending on experience
