He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Community Facilities provides world-class open space, building, and aquatic facilities that are financially considered and deliver on Auckland's expectations and aspirations. As kaitiaki (guardian) of facilities, we have an important role in facilitating the wider social, economic, environmental, and cultural outcomes that promote the wellbeing of our communities. Be part of a dedicated regional aquatic facilities team that manages the largest swimming pool and water feature portfolio in New Zealand. This team is a centre of excellence accountable for the effective management of the council's swimming pool and water feature plant assets (26 pool sites, including any adjoining dry side facilities, and 70 water feature sites).

This is one of those opportunities that does not come around very often. As a Senior Aquatic Facilities Specialist, you will coordinate the day to day delivery of a high performing maintenance service to all swimming pools (including any dry side facilities) and water feature plant assets in one of five specific areas of Auckland through excellent contractor management and communications.

You will be the first point of contact for all maintenance enquiries in one of the five specified areas. You will lead project teams to plan, co-ordinate, and deliver a programme of swimming pool maintenance shutdowns projects. You will be assigned medium complexity new capital works and renewals projects (including renewal planning and minor project delivery) to which you will apply best practice project management principles, techniques, and systems. You will be a subject matter expert for all enquiries for Council owned swimming pools (including any dry side facilities) and water feature plant assets across a specific area.

He kōrero mōu: About you

To be successful in this role you will have substantial experience in both operational maintenance and capital works projects including renewal delivery involving swimming pools and/or dry side facilities. Demonstrated training to meet NZ Standard Pool Water Quality (NZS 5826:2010) or recognised prior learning along with an understanding of NZS4441:2008 Swimming Pool Design Standard is preferred. It goes without saying that you will have a good understanding of construction site monitoring, including a good understanding of Health and Safety.
