He angitūtanga | The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Advisor – Pouāwhina to contribute to transformative outcomes for Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau. In this critical role, you will provide advice and guidance to influence local government decisions, policies, and strategies that impact Māori. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the work programme.
Ngā Kawenga Matua | Key Responsibilities
• Provide advice and support to Houkura members and the Secretariat to advance Māori outcomes
• Research, draft, review policy advice, submissions, and reports on issues of significance to Māori
• Contribute to strategy development and implementation that upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
• Navigate complex political environments to promote Māori interests and advocate for informed decision-making
He kōrero mōu | About You
Passionate about advancing Māori outcomes in Tāmaki Makaurau, you bring a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Local Government, coupled with a high level of proficiency in te reo me ōna tikanga.
With a minimum of three years’ experience in Māori policy and implementation, including formal engagement with Māori communities, you have strong communication and relationship management skills that enable you to provide advice and hold a pivotal role within a team environment. With a solid background in policy advisory and report writing you will work collaboratively across diverse groups, contributing meaningfully in multifaceted settings.
