Our Risk team interns are involved in everything from supporting departments with uplifting the content and quality of their risk registers, to analysing risk data and helping build reports and dashboards for the Chief Risk and Assurance Officer, executives, and the Audit and Risk Committee.
Risk team interns collaborate with Auckland Council’s internal departments to create realistic and up-to-date risk registers and identify risk trends and emerging risks. Our team includes the Head of Risk and Audit, three Senior Risk Advisors, and one Risk Advisor- each of whom partners with various departments and projects to elevate the maturity of their risk management practices.

You’re enthusiastic about learning team objectives, strategies, and the processes and tools used to manage both threats and opportunities.
You bring creativity and analytical thinking, with a genuine interest in identifying, designing, and evaluating risks and their mitigation strategies.
You have some experience with spreadsheets and presentations and are eager to enhance these skills further- helping to improve our risk registers, build risk analysis models, and assist in creating engaging training materials and reporting content.
To apply, you must:
• Be in your penultimate year of study toward a relevant Bachelor's degree, or progressing into Master's level study in 2025
• Be eligible to work full-time in New Zealand from November 2025 to February 2026
