He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Parks Community Facilities (PCF) is committed to making great places Aucklanders love while supporting several related services such as asset management, project delivery and operational contract delivery.

Dedicated to a lifecycle approach to asset management, we work to build, maintain and renew our world class community buildings and public spaces, including parks, walkways, libraries and leisure centres. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council parks and facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes.

As the Regional Work Programme Lead, you will be tasked with providing quality advice and support for elected members to enable them to make well informed decisions. To do this successfully, you will need to work in collaboration with a wide range of Council departments to build robust work programmes based on community needs and asset condition.

As part of the Regional Operations Unit, you will focus on regional programmes such as Regional Parks, Cemeteries, Botanic Gardens, the Wintergardens, and the Farming Business Unit.  Your advice will include identifying projects that will deliver strategic outcomes, assessing viability of delivery options, initial scoping of preferred options, recommending delivery budgets and timeframes, and prioritising projects to form programmes that maximise outcomes within constrained budgets for delivery by our project managers.

You will provide investment advice regarding capital budgets as a part of council’s annual planning cycles (budget for the Annual Plan and 10-year budget for the Long-term Plan).

Along with supporting kaitiakitanga and being responsive to the needs of the Māori community, you are willing to contribute to the department’s Māori Responsiveness Plan.

This is an 18-month Fixed Term opportunity.

You will also be confident in asset planning, financial analysis and political report writing.

Experience in asset management and/or the delivery of buildings and open space projects is also advantageous.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

We offer you a career enhancing opportunity, competitive remuneration and the chance to have a direct input into the development of Auckland’s public spaces and buildings. You will be part of a team that is passionate about what we do. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will have some flexibility with how those hours are set.
