He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Production team on a full time, permanent basis at Auckland Live as a Production Manager.
Reporting into the Senior Production Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing and compiling technical requirements behind the events held at Auckland Live and Auckland Convention Venues.
Additionally, you will take on a technical leadership role for events produced or promoted by Auckland Live to ensure these events are delivered on schedule and to budget. You will be a key liaison between the Account Manager, Technical Managers, Event Coordinators, Venue Technicians and last but not least, our external clients/stakeholders.
Activities this role includes, but are not limited to:
- Determine the technical requirements for events
- Upsell and promote the technical expertise of the organisation to increase revenue where appropriate
- Communicate the technical needs to all relevant parties clearly and concisely
- Manage the production of special events and projects (award dinners, stage cocktails, programme development events, etc)
- Work with account reps, PCOs, promoters and event organisers to determine and manage technical logistics including transport freights, associated budgets, etc

He kōrero mōu: About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in the Events/Production space for at least 5 years. Your practical experience in all aspects of event technology including staging, Sound, Vision and Lighting will be key. You do not need to have experience as a Production Manager to apply for this role. We are open to different type of applicants based on your experience in Events.
Our ideal applicant is equipped with strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure success in your relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to set priorities, organise and delegate will be critical to your success.
Additionally, experience with event coordination or Stage Management over a wide variety of event types would be desirable due to the breadth of different type of events we hold within Auckland Live and conventions. Your experience in working in large scale corporate events including launches, awards dinners, multi day and room conferences will put you in a sound place of familiarity in this role.
Other elements that would make you a strong applicant:
- A working knowledge of USI is desirable
- A results-driven attitude with a track record of demonstrated success
- Previous experience working with high calibre international presenters/performers and PCOs
- A demonstrated understanding of the cultural diversity in NZ and a commitment to a positive working relationship with all cultures and ethnicities
- The ability to read, prepare and interpret plans and drawings
- Strong technical knowledge of needs for large conference, convention and MICE events
- Good interpretive skills to understand client requirements, with the ability to articulate these back to our internal technicians to ensure successful delivery
