He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Parks & Community Facilities’ focus is on ensuring community assets (buildings and open space) are fit for the purpose of delivering outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders.

We currently have a number of opportunities for principal and senior project management professionals to join us, in developing quality and relevant facilities for Aucklanders.

As a Principal Project Manager, you'll lead the planning, investigation, design and delivery of some of our most significant and complex strategic projects (such as new aquatic centres, sports complexes, libraries and community hubs). Working across multi-million-dollar programmes, you'll provide expert project leadership from concept through to delivery, developing robust business cases, guiding investment decisions, partnering with mana whenua, and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in shaping future work programmes, providing strategic advice on project prioritisation, funding and delivery to help achieve long-term outcomes for Auckland.

As a Senior Project Manager, there are opportunities across both local areas (Rodney, Whau – Central/West and Howick/Maungakiekie-Tāmaki) as well as regionally. These projects are focused on capital and renewal works including park development, playgrounds, walkways, sporting facilities, buildings etc (to name just a few). You’ll be responsible for end-to-end project management and delivery, as well as maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders such as mana whenua, politicians, user groups, business owners and other customers.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We're looking for experienced project managers with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-value capital works programmes, particularly of public buildings and open spaces, from planning and investigation through to design and construction. You'll bring strong commercial and project management expertise, with the ability to confidently manage budgets, navigate risk, and balance competing priorities while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes.

Experience in projects related to wheeled play (skateparks, pump tracks, etc) would be highly advantageous for the regionally focused Senior Project Manager.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

You'll enjoy the autonomy to lead complex, meaningful projects while working alongside passionate professionals committed to creating exceptional community outcomes.

If you have a preference for a role or area, please include this in your cover letter.
